Controls University grew from a simple observation: BAS professionals learn best when theory is connected to realistic systems, practical decisions, and repeated experience.
The problem
Controls University is intended to complement classroom instruction, manufacturer training, mentorship, and field experience by adding a repeatable place to apply them.
Training cannot always wait for the right system, condition, or fault to be available.
Experienced technicians have real work to complete alongside the responsibility to teach.
Two technicians can spend the same time in the field and encounter very different learning opportunities.
Classroom understanding becomes field judgment through application, repetition, and reflection.
Contractors need consistent ways to help more technicians grow without replacing mentorship or field experience.

The origin
Controls University was founded from real-world experience in BAS programming, commissioning, service, and troubleshooting—not from an abstract idea of what technical work looks like.
That experience spans HVAC control systems, VAV and air-handling systems, hydronic systems, BAS programming, commissioning, service diagnostics, and field coordination.
The company remains focused on translating that working knowledge into useful practice for technicians and the teams developing them.

By creating training that is immersive, realistic, scalable, and grounded in the work technicians actually perform.
The vision
The long-term direction is a growing scenario library spanning multiple building systems, contractor training, technical education, skills practice, and thoughtful assessment.
Future interfaces may become more immersive as the product evolves, but the priority remains the quality and realism of the work itself.
